Settlement Negotiation
You get most cases settle before trial, and we fight for fair numbers.
Settlement negotiation is how most cases actually end. Instead of going to trial, we sit down with the other side and work out a deal that avoids months of litigation costs and courtroom uncertainty. At Rolon Law Firm, we handle the back-and-forth directly, armed with a clear picture of what your case is worth and what the other side can realistically pay.
The Woodlands area sees plenty of family law, personal injury, and business disputes that settle well before trial. We know the judges here, the local court timelines, and what insurance adjusters expect. We build leverage by preparing as if we're going to trial, then use that preparation to negotiate from a position of strength. Most settlements happen because both sides see the real costs of continuing.
You get a concrete settlement agreement, clear terms, and closure without the stress of courtroom testimony. We handle all communications with the other party's attorney, review every clause, and make sure the deal actually protects your interests. You sign off when you're ready, not when a judge tells you to.
What's included: Case evaluation and settlement value analysis; Demand letter and negotiation strategy; Direct communication and counter-offer management with opposing counsel; Settlement agreement drafting and review; Final settlement document execution and filing.
Settlement Negotiation — FAQ
How long does a settlement usually take?
Most settlements in our practice take 2 to 6 months, depending on how quickly both sides engage and how complex the issues are. We push for movement early, but we don't rush you into a bad deal just to close it fast.
What if the other side won't negotiate?
We've seen that happen. If negotiation stalls, we move forward with trial preparation and file for court dates. Sometimes that pressure alone brings the other side back to the table. Either way, you're not stuck in limbo.
Do I have to accept a settlement offer?
No. We advise you on every offer, show you the math, and explain the risks of turning it down. The final call is always yours. We make sure you understand exactly what you're agreeing to before you sign.
